You aren't doing things right unless you're ruffling a few feathers.
Think about anytime you've made a major change in your life. Perhaps you transformed your body, became healthier and lost weight. I'm sure many people were supportive.
But there is always that one slick person that suddenly becomes miserable the happier you become.
“Training at the gym all the time? That sounds EXHAUSTING”
These small passive aggressive statements are attempts to mask what they're really feeling. Feelings of jealousy, inadequacy and more all roll together to create a toxic environment.
And surprising no one, much of the fitness space is like this.
In a space where everyone is trying to better themselves, you'd think most people would be encouraging one another.
And they are. But there is a special type of online person, the disgruntled troll, that always pokes their head out of nowhere.
“You didn't squat low enough”
“You're not that lean”
“I used to bench that back in high school”
With so much poison, that's why Raskol fosters a supportive community for everyone to be their best selves. We are here to cheer you on as you hit a new PR, redefine yourself and become ultimately the person you want to be.
It's no surprise then that with our last launch, we raised some more eyebrows.
We had a design collab with our Raskol Athlete, LeanBeefPatty, on a design called Kinniku Mama (Muscle Mommy).
The design was a huge success (thank you) and we released an accompanying fun video that got a lot of attention (100,000 views). Immediately the Raskol fanbase was super supportive.
"This is the greatest video I've ever seen." (We don't know if the video was THAT good but thank you nonetheless).
It represented a clear upgrade in our media content. However, unsurprisingly because the video attracted a lot of outside attention, it brought a few angsty trolls.
From the casual sneer “this is lame” to very aggressive threats in our Dms (shame on you), we experienced it all.
And our short but emphatic response is that you can't and will not intimidate Raskol. In fact we're doubling down on what makes Raskol, well Raskol.
This means innovative new designs, fresh apparel not seen anywhere else and new offerings that change the space.
If what we do scares you, good. Because we're very comfortable making you uncomfortable.
Thank you to all of you out there who support us and are helping to transform this space. It is together that we bring about change.
Now I don't know about you but I feel pretty fired up. I think its time to hit a new PR.
