ἀγών aka Agon which means conflict, struggle or a contest (in particular a contest in athletics). Here we have Sisyphus pushing a boulder up a mountain. He was the king of Ephyra but was punished for his self-aggrandizement and cunning by being forced to roll up an immense boulder to the top of a mountain, only to watch it roll back down. He was to repeat this action for all eternity, without end.
All of our lifting journeys have elements of Agon; struggles we try to overcome and setbacks we seek to solve. Within our own particular Agon, we must learn to be content with the process, like Sisyphus, finding meaning in the labour.
